Dr Chloe Walker

Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy), Chartered Clinical Psychologist (CPsychol)

Hi, I’m Chloe, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with nearly 15 years’ experience working in adult mental health. I specialise in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), working with high achieving individuals experiencing stress or burnout. Other related areas of expertise include – but are not limited to – anxiety disorders (e.g. generalised anxiety/worry, panic, health anxiety, social anxiety), perfectionism, depression, and low self-esteem.
My depth of experience – including having held a Senior Psychologist role in the NHS – means that I am able to practice in a flexible way that works for you in order to help you reach your goals.
I stay at the forefront of clinical practice and use a range of therapies, including CBT, to work with people who are struggling with psychological difficulties – from severe and complex mental health problems, to those who simply want to understand themselves better. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a central component of successful therapy, which is why I provide a warm, supportive, non-judgemental space to help you feel at ease. We will work together to come to a shared understanding of your difficulties in order to improve your psychological wellbeing, reduce distress, and make meaningful changes in your life.
I offer both short and longer-term psychological therapy and can help with a wide range of difficulties including, but not limited to:

• Anxiety (panic disorder, phobias, generalised anxiety disorder and worry, health anxiety, social anxiety)
• Depression, feeling sad, or low in mood
• Work or exam related stress
• Sleep problems
• Low self-esteem
• Trauma
• Relationship issues
• Perfectionism
• Feeling ‘stuck’ in life, lacking purpose, or finding it difficult to adjust to major life changes

Experience

I worked in the NHS for over a decade, most recently as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in an Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. Prior to this, I was based in a secondary care community mental health team working with adults with a wide range of severe and enduring psychological difficulties. In my private work I offer short and long term individual therapy, and I supervise other therapists to help them develop their practice. I have also maintained my links with the NHS by facilitating training courses on various mental health topics to NHS teams across the country.
