SUMMARY:Supporting Parents of Neurodiverse Children
DESCRIPTION:This CPD session will provide an introduction to neurodiversity\, focusing specifically on Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD\, and how these may be experienced and expressed in children. It will explore the wider impact of a child’s diagnosis on family relationships and consider how the realities of raising a neurodiverse child can differ from parents’ expectations. \nThe session will also examine the emotional challenges that parents and carers may face\, including burnout and depression. In addition\, it will discuss the experiences of parents who discover their own neurodivergence later in life\, often following their child’s assessment or diagnosis. The training will conclude by considering how therapists can effectively support parents\, carers and family members navigating these experiences. \nWhat You Will Learn\n\nAn overview of neurodiversity and how it may present.\nA deeper understanding of ASC and ADHD.\nHow a child’s diagnosis can impact the wider family unit.\nThe realities of parenting a neurodiverse child and how these can differ from expectations.\nThe effects of carer burnout and depression.\nThe experiences of parents who receive a later-life diagnosis after their child is diagnosed.\nWays therapists can support parents and family members of neurodiverse children.\n\nPresenter\nElizabeth Loveder is a HCPC registered Dramatherapist who has been working with children and adults with neurodiversity for over 10 years. She has supported both those with a diagnosis as well as individuals and families who are going through the diagnostic process. Elizabeth has 10 years experience in the NHS and is now working with the Eaves.\nDramatherapy is a form of Psychotherapy which focuses on creative communication alongside talking therapy.

SUMMARY:Supporting Clients Through Divorce: Including Finances\, Safeguarding and Children
DESCRIPTION:This CPD session will provide an introduction to family law and explore some of the key legal issues that clients may face when relationships break down. It will cover the process of no-fault divorce and the distinction between separating and formally ending a marriage\, as well as the factors that may be considered when dividing family finances. \nThe session will also look at issues relating to children\, including how courts approach decisions about a child’s best interests and arrangements for children spending time between two homes. In addition\, it will consider the legal protections available where there are safeguarding concerns for clients and/or their children. \nThe session will explore practical ways clients may be able to reduce legal costs\, including options for resolving family disputes outside of court. \nThere will also be an interactive Q&A\, providing an opportunity to ask questions and explore areas of family law that may be particularly relevant to therapeutic practice. \n  \nWhat You Will Learn\n\nHow do clients apply for a no-fault divorce? Is this different to just separating?\nWhat factors affect the division of a family’s finances\, and what is considered ‘fair’?\nHow is this different if they are unmarried?\nIf the parties have children\, how does the court determine what is in their best interests\, and how to divide their time between two homes\nWhat protection can a client get if there are safeguarding risks\, for themselves and/or their children?\nIdeas to try reduce legal fees\, including out of court resolution options\n\n  \nPresenter\nLaura is a highly experienced family law solicitor with over 18 years’ experience advising clients on all aspects of family law. She supports individuals from the outset of separation through to resolution and beyond.
