SUMMARY:Helping Children Overcome Anxiety and/or OCD
DESCRIPTION:This presentation will outline the parent-led anxiety treatment programme ‘S.P.A.C.E.’ (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions)\, a programme created by Dr. Eli Lebowitz at the Yale Child Study Centre. The programme reduces anxiety in children and adolescents through changing parental responses to anxiety and reducing accommodations parents are making around the anxiety. \nSome of the main anxiety problems treated with SPACE include: \n• Separation anxiety\n• Social anxiety\n• Generalised anxiety\n• Fears and phobias\n• Panic disorder and Agoraphobia\n• Selective mutism\n• Obsessive-compulsive disorder \nWhat You Can Take Away from This CPD\nUnderstanding Childhood Anxiety: Learn about the causes and maintenance of anxiety in children and adolescents. \nThe Role of Parents: Understand how parental responses can reinforce anxiety and how to alter them. \nPractical Tools: Discover strategies to reduce overprotectiveness and encourage emotional independence. \nEvidence-Based: Explore the scientific backing of S.P.A.C.E. and its effectiveness in treatment. \nPresenting: Katrina Batley\nWhen my daughter started Primary School\, she was completely silent. She has selective mutism\, an anxiety condition. She is prone to anxiety\, and anxiety can show up in a range of areas for her. \nWhen we first realised there was a problem\, it really took its toll on us as parents. The mental and emotional load was really overwhelming. \nBut I wasn’t happy to sit back and hope everything got better by itself. I learned the tools\, studied the techniques\, and helped my child to make wonderful progress in overcoming anxiety. I dedicated myself to helping other parents feel more in control\, by knowing what they can do themselves\, at home\, to support their child. \nI was a primary school teacher for almost twenty years\, after which I studied/qualified as: \n• Master’s degree in the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health\n• Accredited Goulding method consultant\n• Trained provider of the Supportive Parenting of Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) program\n• Emotional Freedom Technique\n• Certified personal development coach\n• Certified mental health coach\n• Certified trauma-informed coach \nI support parents to learn strategies at home to support their and their child’s emotional wellbeing. Let’s work together\, to help you and your child feel better. \nPlease note: This event is only available to qualified talking therapy professionals that hold a BACP\, BPS or similar membership. A CPD certificate will be issued after the event to all attendees.

SUMMARY:Non-Violent Resistance (NVR)
DESCRIPTION:What is Non Violent Resistance (NVR)?\nNon Violent Resistance (NVR) is a therapeutic approach to raising children that empowers parents/carers to deal with children’s aggressive and self-destructive behaviours in a non-violent manner and that helps them to rebuild healthy and respectful family relationships. Any client who is a parent/carer may be struggling with child-to-parent violence or child violence directed towards the self\, such a suicidal ideation and self-harm. \nThe occurrence of such behaviours in families with neurodivergent children is even more prevalent. In this awareness training for therapists\, Anastasia will explain the foundational principles of NVR and what type of adult clients may benefit from a referral to an NVR programme. Also covered will be specific NVR intervention strategies for therapists that can be used with their individual clients who struggle with these complex issues. \nWhat You Can Take Away from This CPD\nNVR Overview: Learn how Non-Violent Resistance helps parents manage aggressive or self-destructive child behaviours without violence. \nCore Principles: Gain insight into the foundational principles of NVR. \nClient Referrals: Identify which clients may benefit from NVR programmes. \nPresenting: Anastasia Seale\nAnastasia Seale is an Integrative Counsellor specialising in work with adults\, children\, and young people\, as well as a Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) Practitioner. Her professional experience includes roles as an adult counsellor at Crossways Counselling Service and as a child and adolescent counsellor with Place2Be. She has also co-facilitated Non-Violent Resistance parent groups with Guildford CAMHS and worked as a parent educator through her own practice\, Anastasia Seale Infinity Parent Coaching. In addition to her counselling career\, Anastasia has a background in corporate and finance law\, having worked at Herbert Smith\, BP\, and MFB Solicitors. \nPlease note: This event is only available to qualified talking therapy professionals that hold a BACP\, BPS or similar membership. A CPD certificate will be issued after the event to all attendees.
