SUMMARY:Women & ADHD: The Hidden Story Behind Symptoms\, Hormones & Mental Health
DESCRIPTION:ADHD is often stereotyped as a childhood condition seen primarily in boys\, however\, many women reach adulthood without recognition of their symptoms. Instead\, they are frequently mislabelled with anxiety\, depression or stress-related disorders\, leaving the true underlying cause unaddressed. \nThe following key topics will be explored:\nThis CPD will unpack how ADHD can present differently in women\, with symptoms that are typically more internalised\, including: \n\nEmotional overwhelm\nChronic disorganisation\nPerfectionism\nInattentiveness\nMasking\nPersistent feelings of underachievement\n\nWe will also explore how hormonal changes across the menstrual cycle\, pregnancy and menopause can significantly influence ADHD symptoms\, affecting dopamine regulation\, executive function and emotional stability. \nIn this CPD we will examine the neuroscience behind ADHD\, the unique challenges women face in getting a diagnosis and the evidence-based treatment options available\, including medical\, psychological and lifestyle approaches. We will discuss how women can harness their strengths\, build strategies that work with their brains and access the right support. \nPresenter: Kate Organ\nKate is a British Menopause Society Registered Menopause Specialist and founder of the Menopause Specialists Clinics\, offering personalised treatment for perimenopause\, menopause\, PMDD\, and women with ADHD. With nearly 20 years’ experience in NHS mental health\, Kate is a specialist in PMS/PMDD and ADHD. She takes a holistic approach\, reviewing medical history\, lifestyle\, nutrition\, exercise and treatment options. She is dedicated to empowering women with the information they need to make informed healthcare choices. \nPlease note: This event is only available to qualified talking therapy professionals that hold a BACP\, BPS or similar membership. A CPD certificate will be issued after the event to all attendees.
